AGM followed by The Balloon Game led by Christopher North. This was an excellent evening, and very amusing. Surprising too, because no-one knew what to expect! Unfortunately, due to winter colds and inclement weather, there were many members missing. So we will repeat the idea in the autumn programme. |

Chair's choice. "Books and Celluloid". Norma will do an intro as Rod is away, then she will open the meeting to contributions of no more than 5 minutes. Those who would like a longer spot are asked to read a precis of their piece. If time allows, the meeting will welcome the additional contribution after everyone else has spoken. The meeting will be chaired by Christopher. |

27 April |
Explaining the Circumstances. Christopher introduces his new book of poems. The title of the collection refers to the difficulty people often have in precisely explaining something that has happened to them - be it, love, bereavement, an accident or arriving at an unexpected destination. So we invite prose or poems from the circle that follow this path to discovery. |

Historical novels. Huw Griffiths will introduce this subject and arrange with other speakers. Please come prepared to discuss a book set in the past (say 100 or more years before it was written, though that shouldn't inhibit anyone who wants to talk about Pat Barker's WW1 trilogy, for example), which to your mind vividly recreates that historical period in a way that a history book would find it hard to do. It might be by introducing fictional but convincing detail, or by creating convincing characters, or anything else. I should like to think that at least one member will see fit to talk about "Wolf Hall" • Bookings and deposits for the summer party will be taken on this evening. See below for details |
